Richard
Moore is currently serving as pastor of the Evangelical Covenant Church
in Sloan, Iowa. A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he entered full
time ministry in 1991. He has served the Covenant Church in Sloan since
1996. Moore's background includes work as an elementary school teacher,
continuing education instructor in the field of insurance and retirement
planning, insurance broker, and a hospital chaplain. He has been a featured
speaker at conferences on insurance training, vocational special needs
teaching, spirituality issues and Alzheimer's, as well as a speaker at
numerous Christian schools, retreats and camps.
Moore received his bachelor's degree at the University of Northern Colorado
in elementary education and a master's degree from the University of Nebraska
in the field of vocational and adult education. He is currently pursuing
post-graduate work in the field of divinity with an emphasis on issues
of pastoral care.
Moore has received numerous awards and recognition including being selected
as the Friend of Education by the Westwood Education Association, and
an outstanding achievement award from the Alzheimer's Association for
work in area of public policy. He was selected by the student council
at Westwood High School to serve as grand marshal of the homecoming festivities
in 2001. He also is the announcer for Westwood athletic events as the
"Voice of the Rebels."
Moore is married to Mimi, a director of field experience at Wayne State
College in Nebraska. The couple has been married for over 23 years and
has two sons: Aaron, a junior in college majoring in nursing, and Paul,
a sophomore in college majoring in computer networking and programming.
The Moores live in Sloan with son Paul and their two dogs, Bear and Saleen.
